Meet Julie Shedden

I am a Law Society Accredited Family Law Specialist and have primarily practised in Family Law since the late 1990’s both in city and suburban practices.

I am experienced in all facets of family law, including alternative dispute resolution, negotiation, and litigation processes.

I was admitted to practice in 1994 and am a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council, and the Law Society of New South Wales.

I was appointed as an Independent Children’s Lawyer in 2010 by Legal Aid NSW & regularly am appointed to represent the best interests of children in parenting disputes.

I am also on the Family Law Panel and Mediation Panel for Legal Aid NSW & continue to undertake such work for them.

During 2014, I was appointed and served as a Registrar in both the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia at the Parramatta Registry on 2 short term contracts.

I completed my training as a Collaborative Lawyer in 2015 & able to practise as such.

I joined the ranks of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners with the completion of a Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution (“FDR”) and thereafter with my registration by the Attorney General’s Department in 2017, I am able to facilitate compulsory Family Dispute Resolution and issue s60I Certificates pursuant to the provisions of the Family Law Act 1975 when required.

In 2017 I also successfully completed my training and assessment as a Mediator under the National Mediator Accreditation Scheme (NMAS) and am a Nationally Accredited Mediator.

I also have a large independent children’s practice in the Federal Circuit & Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) & usually meet with children in Parramatta Park in NSW near the FCFC in Parramatta or as otherwise agreed with the parties if not at my office.
